What’s open and closed in Ottawa this weekend

In preparatio­n for your last summer long weekend, find out what’s open and closed on Labour Day.

RETAIL, GROCERIES AND ALCOHOL

CF Rideau Centre will be operating on a holiday hour schedule from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Tanger Outlets, Bayshore, Place d’Orléans, St. Laurent and Carlingwoo­d will all be closed on Labour Day.

Most businesses in the By Ward Market will be open for the holiday with individual shops setting their own hours. Most market vendors will be out from sunrise to sundown.

Walmart Supercentr­es at Baseline Road, the Ottawa Train Yards and on Bank Street are closed.

All Food Basics, Farm Boy and Fresh Co locations in Ottawa will also be closed.

Produce Depot at Carling Avenue and Bank Street are both closed.

All Loblaws locations will be closed, except for the store’s Rideau Street location.

Sobeys locations at Metcalfe Street, Greenback Road, Terry Fox Drive are all closed.

Metro on Bank Street is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the Metro on Rideau Street is open 24 hours.

Metro locations on Carleton Avenue, Merivale Road, McCarthy Road, Greenback Road, Robertson Road, Walkley Road and Beechwood Avenue are closed.

All Beer Store and LCBO stores will be closed on Labour Day. Check with your local LCBO to confirm its weekend hours.

CITY SERVICES, PARKING AND TRANSPORTA­TION

Ottawa City Hall, client service centres and Provincial Offences Court will be closed but will back to business as usual on Tuesday.

The city’s 311 line will be open for urgent matters. People with hearing-related disabiliti­es can call 613-580-2401.

The Sexual Health Centre, dental clinics, well baby drop-in and Ottawa Public Health informatio­n line will all be closed.

All municipal child care centres and branches of the public library will also be closed.

Regular parking regulation­s and restrictio­ns will apply on Monday.

OC Transpo will operate on a Sunday schedule on Labour Day.

Starting on Sunday, OC Transpo’s new fall service will be in effect. New timetables are available at octranspo.com and octranspo.mobi.

A DayPass will be valid as a Family DayPass meaning a family with up to six people, with a maximum of two people aged 13 or older, can travel on a DayPass for $10.25.

OC Transpo customer service centres will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Lincoln Fields, Place d’Orléans and St-Laurent. But the Rideau Centre location will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The transit informatio­n centre will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. but the customer relations office will be closed though.

Para Transpo will be operating on holiday service for Sept. 4 with regular scheduled trips being automatica­lly cancelled. Labour Day trips can be booked calling 613-244-7272.

Para Transpo customer service, administra­tion and taxi coupon lines will all be closed on the holiday. However, the reservatio­ns line will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the trip cancellati­on and general inquiries line will be open from 6 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.

MUSEUMS, CULTURAL SERVICES AND RECREATION

The Canadian War Museum is open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

While the Canadian History Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Labour Day.

The Canadian Museum of Nature is also open on Labour Day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. After Monday, the museum will be switching over from their summer hours to regular hours.

The Bank of Canada Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Canadian Museum of Agricultur­e and the Aviation and Space museum will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The National Gallery of Canada is open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

If weather permits, beaches and splash pads will be open but unsupervis­ed. Most registered programs at swimming pools, community centres and arenas are cancelled but some exceptions may apply. Check with your local facility.

Some indoor pools and fitness centres will be open for activities like public swimming, skating, fitness schedules and aqua-fit. Some of these centres may have modified schedules, check with your local facility or on ottawa.ca.

At City Hall, the Barbara Ann Scott Gallery and the OAG Annex will be open. However, the Karsh Masson Gallery will be closed for an installati­on.

Various City of Ottawa archives, arts centres, galleries, theatres and museums will be closed on Monday. Check ottawa.ca or your facility to confirm.

GARBAGE COLLECTION

There will be no curbside pickup for green bins, recycling or garbage on the holiday. Labour Day’s pickup will take place on Tuesday.

The collection of green bin, recycling and garbage materials will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week. Check your pickup by using the collection calendar tool.

On Labour Day, there will be no multi-residentia­l bulky items, green bin and recycling container collection. Pickup scheduled on the holiday will happen on Tuesday.

Recycling and green bin collection will also be delayed by one day for the rest of the week.

Multi-residentia­l garbage container collection will not be delayed and will happen on its regular day during the week.

The Trail Waste Facility is closed.
