As 2017 comes to an end, Citizen photograph­er Tony Caldwell looks back on some of his favourite images, from the sublime to the sporting to the slightly surreal.

April 17: Senators defenceman Mark Borowiecki takes out Boston Bruins forward Riley Nash in GameTwo of their matchup in the NHL Eastern Conference playoffs.

May 9: Water is starting to drop around Rue Saint-Louis in Gatineau. Homeowners around the Gatineau area could only wait for the waters to recede before beginning the lengthy cleanup operation. Sylvie Lavoie sits in her water-filled living room on Rue Jacques-Cartier. The couple were visiting their house trying to salvage anything they could from the destroyed first floor.

Aug. 24: Michelle Wie tracks her shot during Thursday’s opening round of the 2017 Canadian Pacific Women’s Open Championsh­ip at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club.

Nov. 26: The Toronto Argonauts took on the Calgary Stampeders during the 105th Grey Cup at Lansdowne Park in Ottawa. Here, Argonauts player DeVier Posey beats Calgary’s Tommie Campbell and dives across the line for a touchdown during first-half action.

April 5: Mike Lake, Conservati­ve MP for Edmonton-Wetaskiwin, and his autistic son Jaden attend Autism on the Hill on Parliament Hill. Autism on the Hill is a public rally held to promote autism awareness and to show support for Canadians with the disorder.

Feb. 20: Adam Zimmerman, dressed as a dinosaur, walks down Bank Street in Ottawa. He runs The Dino Project in Ottawa and enjoys getting out and meeting people around the capital.

May 5: A water-filled car sits abandoned on Rue René in Gatineau. Emergency workers struggled to aid those affected by flooding in the Rue Saint-Louis area as more rain pelted the region.
