Billy Boyd, best known for playing “Pippen” in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, will make another appearance at Ottawa ComicCon.

Boyd, who first came to Ottawa for the event in 2015, was announced as the latest celebrity guest by event organizers on Tuesday. During his last appearance, the actor shared stories about filming the acclaimed trilogy and sang “The Last Goodbye” from The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies for those in attendance.

Boyd will join Jason Momoa, best known for playing Aquaman in the Justice League movies, character actor Doug Jones, Laurie Holden from The X-Files and The Walking Dead, Sean Gunn from Gilmore Girls and Guardians of the Galaxy and Joonas Suotamo, who has taken over the role of Star Wars’ Chewbacca from Peter Mayhew, on the celebrity guest list for this year’s event.

ComicCon is in its seventh year in Ottawa. It was initially created as a test to see if an exhibition showcasing comic books, science fiction and TV pop culture would draw crowds and expand year after year. The event is now operating near capacity at the south-end EY Centre, and is aiming to attract more than 40,000 guests this year.

The three-day exhibit, May 11 to 13, includes panels, workshops, improv shows, board game tournaments, film screenings, celebrity autograph sessions, photo ops and shopping for collectables.
