Perry kisses Idol contestant
In a rebooted American Idol that reached more than 10 million viewers Sunday night, judge Katy Perry floored a contestant by planting a kiss on his lips. Benjamin Glaze, 19, admitted he has never had a girlfriend and has never had a kiss on the lips. So when Perry offered him her cheek, Glaze obliged with a peck. But Perry was unimpressed, telling him, “You didn’t even make the smush sound!” Given a second shot, Glaze once again leaned forward to give Perry, 33, another peck on the cheek, but she turned her head at the last minute — so his smooch landed on her mouth. Some viewers expressed amusement on Twitter, while others were less impressed. “If a male judge kissed a girl like that, IMAGINE the rioting,” one wrote. “Double standard against men.”
