- KIERAN DELAMONT

Police have arrested a 28-year-old man in the killing of Joey Morin, a Gatineau man who was found dead in his home on April 21.

The man, who police say was a close friend of Morin’s, was arrested in Rouyn-Noranda, more than 500 kilometres away from Gatineau.

Morin, 23, was found dead in the basement of a home in the Lac-Beauchamp neighbourhood of Gatineau. While police had not previously released the cause of death, they said in a statement Tuesday afternoon that Morin was killed after being hit in the head with a blunt object some time between April 13 and 21.

Gatineau police said the suspect, whose name was not released, had fled the Outaouais region.
