Great help at Redblacks game

-

An avid, longtime football fan, I have now become dependent on a walker except for short distances and have not attended a football game for some time. But I am thankful that a friend suggested I investigate help available for the physically challenged at TD Place.

After a phone call to the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group (OSEG), I took only my cane to last Friday’s Redblacks game. From the time I was helped on the shuttle bus (park and shuttle service) to when we were shuttled back to our car after the game, we were absolutely “blown away” by the incredibly outstanding assistance we received.

At the stadium, staff members are available with wheelchairs — or golf carts for longer distances — if needed. I was assisted in getting as close to our seats as possible by wheelchair, then accompanied up the stairs to ensure I got to my seat safely.

This same staff member returned promptly with a wheelchair when the game ended and even waited when we were leaving while I popped into the shop in the stadium to purchase some Redblacks merchandise.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and had a great time at the game thanks to the excellent help.

OSEG should be congratulated for providing this wonderful service. Hopefully more people who have reduced mobility and require help as I do will take advantage of it.
