WHAT’S OPEN AND CLOSED THANKSGIVING MONDAY
Shopping
The Rideau Centre will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., but all other shopping centres will be closed.
Most Loblaws locations will be closed Monday, but the Rideau Street store will be open 24 hours and the Loblaws on Isabella Street will be open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Metro Glebe will be open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Metro Rideau will be open 24 hours; all other stores will be closed.
All Real Canadian Superstores, Your Independent Grocers, No Frills, Sobeys and Walmarts will be closed. Beer Stores, LCBOs will be closed. The By Ward Market is open. Stores in the Glebe are allowed to open on Thanksgiving Monday, but check first with individual businesses to see if they are open.
City services
City Hall and all Service Ottawa centres will be closed Monday, as will the government service centre at 110 Laurier Ave. W. and the provincial offences court in Nepean.
The city’s 311 contact centre will be open for urgent matters.
All city parking regulations and restrictions will apply as normal.
The Site Needle and Syringe Program office on Clarence, along with safe injection services, will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The site’s mobile van will operate as usual from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Recreation
Some indoor pools, arenas and fitness centres will be open with modified schedules, but most registered programs at pools, community centres and arenas will be cancelled. Check with your local facility.
All Ottawa Public Library branches will be closed.
Culture
The Karsh-Masson Gallery and Barbara Ann Scott Gallery at City Hall will be open. All other city arts centres, galleries, theatres and museums will be closed,
The Ottawa Art Gallery is closed, but the National Gallery is open.
The Museum of Nature, Agriculture and Food, War, Science and Technology, History, and Aviation and Space are all open.
City of Ottawa arts centres, galleries, theatres and museums will be closed, save for a few at city hall.
Transit
OC Transpo will operate on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving Monday (check at octranspo.com).
The Rideau Centre OC Transpo customer service centre will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. All others will be closed.
Para Transpo will operate on a holiday service schedule. Regular subscription bookings will automatically be cancelled. Customers can book Labour Day trips by calling 613-244-7272.
Garbage
There will be no curbside green bin, recycling or garbage collection on Thanksgiving Day. Monday’s pickup will be pushed to Tuesday, and collection for the rest of the week will be delayed by one day.
The same goes for multi-residential green bin and recycling collection, but multi-residential garbage collection will follow its regular schedule.
Health and Family
Ottawa Public Health’s sexual health clinics, dental clinics and parenting drop-ins will be closed.
All municipal child-care centres will be closed.
