SOME PLACES WHERE SMOKING POT WILL BE ALLOWED IN OTTAWA
At home: If you own your home, you can smoke there, including the yard and the porch. Renters have to follow any no-smoking clauses in their leases. Condo boards can pass policies against smoking. Sidewalks
Many outdoor public places and parks that aren’t owned by the city
NCC parks and property: Nothing in the NCC regulations prohibits smoking on NCC parkland. However, when festivals and other events use NCC property, such as Confederation Park, organizers sign land-use agreements promising to promote a smoke-free environment.
Vehicles and boats: In vehicles like RVs, which have permanent sleeping and cooking facilities, you can light up if the vehicle is parked. The same goes for boats that are anchored.
Hotels, motels and inns: In designated smoking rooms.
PLACES WHERE POT SMOKING WILL NOT BE ALLOWED
City parks and beaches Municipal property
Publicly-owned sports fields: That includes spectator areas, and within 20 metres of those areas.
Common areas such as lobbies: In condos, apartments and university and college residences.
Algonquin College: The college will ban all smoking from Oct. 15 until January 2019 while it holds consultations. Workplaces that are enclosed
Areas where children gather: That includes schools, school grounds, children’s playgrounds, and public areas within 20 metres of those places; in childcare centres; and in home daycares, even when children aren’t present.
Health-care facilities: Smoking is banned at hospitals, hospices, care homes, and within nine metres from exits or entrances of hospitals, psychiatric facilities, long-term care homes and health facilities.
Restaurants: That includes patios, and public areas within nine metres of a patio.
Stadiums and other outdoor sports and entertainment locations: In the reserved seating areas.
The grounds of community recreational facilities: That includes public areas within 20 metres of those grounds
