FLURRY OF FUNDRAISERS AHEAD
Three weeks after devastating tornadoes descended on Ottawa neighbourhoods and cast much of the city into darkness, neighbours are rallying to help neighbours whose need continues.
A string of upcoming fundraisers range from drive-in bingo and a pair of countrystyle dances to a golf tournament and barbecue.
Not one but two events have been organized by the Carp Fair.
Bingo is at the Carp Fairgrounds Centre Ring, 3790 Carp Rd., from 2 to 5 p.m. (Don’t miss the famous Huntley Burger). Admission is $10 for 12 games and a jackpot.
The Tornado Relief Fundraiser Dance is in the Carp Fairgrounds Showbarn from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., featuring music by doubleBack and D.W. James. $20.

The golf tournament is a shotgun start, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and includes a cart, lunch, on-course activities and an après-golf reception. Registration ($200) is through the Eagle Creek tournament system. The evening event features a live band, barbecue and bar tent. Admission is $25.
A silent auction runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and nonperishable food donations be accepted for the food bank.
