Greystone Village Retirement is all about positive choices for residents in their new forever homes.

“We have really tried to provide something for everyone,” says Jennifer Martel, a co-owner and general manager of Ottawa’s newest retirement community. “We want our residents to continue their independence, to keep doing everything they have always enjoyed and more.”

She emphasizes that the locally owned residence is all about giving people a way to enjoy every aspect of their lives.

Many seniors choose to move into retirement living because they simply no longer want the responsibility and associated worry of keeping a house in good repair and continuing with the tasks of daily living. Instead of occupying their days with housekeeping, grocery shopping and the regular preparation of meals, they want to enjoy their leisure time — visiting with family and friends, walking their dogs, enjoying the green space around them and, perhaps, visiting the beauty salon or dropping in at the local pub.

And all this is how they may choose to spend their days at Greystone Village Retirement, located between the Rideau River and the canal.

“The location is stunning with the best views in the city,” says Martel, adding that there is also plenty of opportunity to walk the surrounding trails and enjoy the green spaces from rooftop terraces and sunrooms on site, as well as from the huge windows in each of the well-appointed suites.

As well as making Greystone Village Retirement a perfect place for seniors choosing to live independently in a great location offering a wide assortment of amenities and services, the residence is equally suitable for them should they ever need more care or for individuals looking for support from the time they move in.

Greystone offers supported living for anyone who continues to enjoy living independently but requires help with specific tasks, such as doing personal laundry (linens are part of regular housekeeping services), dressing or dealing with medications.

“Our philosophy is to help our residents stay as self-reliant as possible,” says Martel. “We see these support activities as a way to maintain independence.”

Should any residents need further care, they may choose to access assisted living level, which provides full-time help in any area in which they require assistance. Changes of care level are made available when they are needed.
