Wu-Tang Clan launches products to benefit Food Bank, Mission and CHEO

- MEGAN GILLIS

Ottawa’s getting its Wu on — again.

American hip-hop collective Wu-Tang Clan and its brand 36 Chambers have launched a line of products benefiting Ottawa causes in collaboration with Mayor Jim Watson and the City of Ottawa.

“We bringing da ruckus to Canada for a Better Tomorrow,” the group said via Twitter as it unveiled a line of products that featured hand sanitizer, a T-shirt and a dish from local restaurant Pure Kitchen.

The items benefit the Ottawa Mission and other homeless shelters, Ottawa Food Bank and CHEO.

The crew’s capital benevolence began with an April 2 donation to the local food bank that spurred $280,000 in other donations within 48 hours, organizers said in a press release.

“In turn, the thousands of people who donated have inspired us to further lend a hand during this unprecedented crisis.”

The OttaWu: 36 Chambers x Ottawa T-shirt already modelled by Watson is $40 with profits to the Ottawa Food Bank.

For every Protect Ya Hands: 36 Chambers x Jusu Hand Sanitizer purchased ($28), another hand sanitizer will be donated to The Ottawa Mission Foundation along with other Canadian homeless

shelters in Canada and additional profits will be donated to the shelters.

Profits from The Saga Continues Bowl at Pure Kitchen will buy meals for any front-line workers wherever CHEO is working, including at long-term care residences, the COVID-19 assessment centre or other residential facilities such as family shelters or the isolation shelter for youthat-risk.

“The items will be available for sale at ottawa.36chambers.com and profits from sales of these items will go toward helping these organizations continue the incredible work they are doing on a daily basis,” organizers said.
