FOR THE CRATER GOOD
Villagers try to catch thrown offerings in nets inside the crater of Indonesia’s Mount Bromo on Tuesday, as part of the Yadnya Kasada Festival in Probolinggo, east Java. Tengger tribespeople climb to the top of the mountain, a live volcano, each year to make offerings of rice, fruit, livestock and other items and seek the blessing from the main deity. Some locals also try to fetch the offered items, for good luck.
