What's open and closed on Thanksgivi­ng weekend

A rundown of which businesses and services are open and which are closed on Thanksgivi­ng:

SHOPPING

Shopping is typically restricted on statutory holidays, but there are some local exceptions that allow retailers to operate, including in the ByWard Market and the Glebe.

Some other businesses such as restaurant­s, pharmacies and gas stations are exempt. Call ahead to check.

Most shopping centres are closed on Monday. The Rideau Centre will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. LCBO and Beer Store outlets will be closed. Select grocery stores will remain open with holiday hours Monday.

RECREATION AND CULTURE

Some indoor and outdoor municipal pools will be open for public swimming, with modified schedules, and some weight and cardio rooms will be open with modified schedules. Most registered programs will be cancelled. Check with the facility for informatio­n.

All Ottawa Public Library branches will be closed.

The National Gallery of Canada and the Ottawa Art Gallery will be closed Monday.

Several museums will operate on reduced hours and with advance online check-ins. The Canadian Museum of Nature, Canada Agricultur­e and Food, Aviation and Space, and Science and Technology museums will all be open. Check online or contact the museum for restrictio­ns.

The Canadian Museum of History and Canadian War Museum will be closed Monday, as will the Diefenbunk­er.

TRANSIT AND SERVICES

OC Transpo bus and LRT service will operate on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgivi­ng Monday. O-Train Line 1 (Confederat­ion Line) will run from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., while Trillium Line replacemen­t bus service will run from 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The OC Transpo customer-service centre at the Rideau Centre will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Transpo's customer service line at 613-741-4390 (613-741-5280 for TTY) operates from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Para Transpo will operate on a holiday schedule Monday, with all regularly scheduled trips cancelled automatica­lly. Trip booking is available through the online system or by calling 613-244-7272.

All city parking rules will apply on the holiday Monday. You can find free parking at City Hall from Friday at 6 p.m. through Tuesday at 6 a.m.

WASTE COLLECTION

There will be no curbside green bin, recycling or garbage collection on Monday; pickup will take place on Tuesday instead, and collection will be delayed by a day for the remainder of the week.

Multi-residentia­l garbage containers will be collected as scheduled, but recycling, green bin and bulk item collection will be delayed by a day for the rest of the week.

The Trail waste facility will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The city's 311 contact centre will remain open for urgent municipal issues.

HEALTH, FAMILY, COVID- 19

All city-operated childcare centres will be closed.

The city's assessment centres will be open during regular hours.

The Moodie Care Clinic and Heron Care Clinic will be open from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

The Brewer Assessment Centre and CHEO Assessment Centre at Brewer will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The COVID-19 Drive-thru Assessment Centre on Coventry Road will be will be closed on Monday, as will the clinic at Ray Friel Complex in Orléans.

Ottawa Public Health's baby help line, dental clinics, sexual health clinics and satellite clinics and Site program office and supervised consumptio­n services at 179 Clarence St. will be closed.

The OPH Informatio­n Centre will be closed for general calls.
