Shopping options limited on Family Day
The COVID-19 pandemic has already closed much of Ottawa, and Ontario's shutdown and stay-athome order will still be in effect locally, but the Family Day holiday on Monday will bring further schedule changes in the capital worth noting.
There will be no print editions of the Ottawa Citizen on Monday.
SHOPPING
Between holiday retail closures and the provincial pandemic shutdown, options for in-person shopping on Family Day will be very limited. It's likely best to call ahead or check online whether or when a particular business will be open.
Certain small stores and pharmacies, gas stations, restaurants, and a few Ottawa retail areas are exempt from provincially mandated holiday retail closures.
LCBO stores are currently closed on Mondays. All Beer Store locations will be closed.
RECREATION AND CULTURE
The mayor's annual skating party at city hall has been cancelled due to pandemic restrictions.
The Ottawa Public Library will be closed on Family Day.
CITY SERVICES
There won't be any curbside green bin, recycling, garbage or bulky-item collection on Family Day. Pickup will be on Tuesday instead, and collection will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week.
The same goes for multi-residential recycling and green bin collection, but multi-residential garbage pickup will take place as scheduled.
The Trail Waste Facility will be open, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The city's 311 contact centre will remain open for urgent municipal issues.

TRANSIT
OC Transpo buses will run on a reduced weekday schedule, while LRT service along O-Train Line 1 and bus service along O -Train Line 2 will run on a normal weekday schedule. Para Transpo will provide holiday service, with regularly scheduled trips all cancelled.
Family Day trip booking is available through the online system or by calling 613-244-7272. The taxi coupons line will remain open, the reservations line (613-244-7272) will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the trip-cancellation and general inquiries line (613-244-4636) will be open from 6 a.m. to midnight.
HEALTH, FAMILY, SOCIAL SERVICES, AND COVID-19
The Tom Brown respite centre will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., while the Bernard Grandmaître respite centre and St. Paul's Eastern United Church respite centre will both be closed on Family Day.
All municipal childcare centres will be closed.
All COVID-19 testing sites will be open, except for the Centretown, Sandy Hill, and Somerset West Community Health Centres and the pop-up testing site at the Vanier Community Service Centre. A page on the Ottawa Public Health website has information about testing hours and appointment booking.
The OPH sexual health clinic and satellite clinics will be closed, as will its dental clinics and parenting in Ottawa drop-ins.
The Site office and supervised consumption services at 179 Clarence St. will be closed, but the Site mobile van will operate on its regular schedule from 5 to 11:30 p.m.
The OPH information centre will be closed, but residents can call 613-580-6744 to leave a message and expect a response during business hours.
