Virtual For the Kids Gala

-

OK, mark your calendars. We’re giving you lots of time with a proper heads up for this event; no excuse to double-book. On Thursday, April 8, at 5:30 p.m. CHEO’s virtual For the Kids Gala will be taking place, and tickets are on sale now.

The virtual experience will include: an online auction; a 3D visual art showcase; a curated gala-in-a-box with local products delivered to your door; a virtual photo booth; a virtual talent show featuring the abilities and unique skills of some of the incredible children and youth who are supported by the Development and Rehabilitation program at CHEO.

I just had the honour of meeting and chatting with the 2021 Gala Champion, and she is a stylish, young firecracker! Eighteen-year-old Jordyn Deveau Yurich is living with a rare, congenital form of muscular dystrophy that was discovered through a muscle biopsy at CHEO when she was just five months old. Her passion and drive shine so brightly. This young lady may be graduating out of CHEO but knows that CHEO is always going to be part of her family. Heading to college in September, Jordyn’s goals are lofty. She will be inspiring children and adults alike, without a doubt.

“They’ve saved my life, more than once! How do you repay that?” she said after donating a framed watercolour artwork for the event’s silent auction.

Tickets for the virtual event can be purchased at www.cheoforthekids.com. Funds raised help children and

youth supported by the Development and Rehabilitation program at CHEO to reach their full potential.
