More Ottawa museums to reopen this week
Three more Ottawa museums are set to reopen in the coming days.
The Canadian Museum of Nature welcomes visitors on Friday, starting at 10 a.m.
You must book a timed ticket in advance to see its wonders of nature, which include representations of dinosaurs, a blue whale, Arctic creatures and other Canadian wildlife species.
Still on view is the seven-metre likeness of Planet Earth by British artist Luke Jerram, while a new Sound Scavenger Hunt challenges participants to find animals or objects that make intriguing sounds.
The Nature Museum is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday, with a free period on Thursdays from 4 to 7 p.m. Pandemic protocols in effect include mandatory masks, physical distancing, directional signage and a one-way flow through the castle-like institution on McLeod Street.
Next to open its doors will be the Canadian War Museum, which is planning for a Saturday reopening. Regular opening hours will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday, with a free period from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday (although you still need a ticket).
Tickets are offered every 15 minutes, with access limited to 75 people at a time. Go to warmuseum. ca to book or call 819-776-7000 or 1-800-555-5621.
Finally, the Diefenbunker, Canada's Cold War museum in Carp, is planning to reopen on July 21. Go to diefenbunker.ca to book your timed entry ticket and review the COVID -19 safety protocol.
