The Chef’s Table
There is a buzz around social events coming back to Ottawa as COVID-19 restrictions loosen in Ontario. One of this summer’s not-tomiss dining and musical experiences will be the Chef ’s Table, taking place six weekends this summer in collaboration with National Arts Centre’s Resident Chefs Program.
The Chef ’s Table is a farm-to-table feast with menus curated by Canadian chefs and musical entertainment presented by the Festival of Small Halls. The event kicks off the weekend of Aug. 13 and will run to Sept. 18. Executive chef Kenton Leier will be joined by chefs Yannick Anton (Signatures – by Le Cordon Bleu, Ottawa), Nick Benninger (Fat Sparrow Group, Waterloo), Renée Lavallée (The Canteen, Dartmouth N.S.), Joseph Shawana (Manitoulin Island, Ont.), Sara Shpyth (Ottawa) and Joe Thottungal (Coconut Lagoon, Ottawa).
“I am excited about the lineup of chefs, which is amazing,” said Mark Monahan, executive director of the Festival of Small Halls. “I am personally a big fan of Coconut Lagoon’s Joe Thottungal.”
Monahan is looking forward to sharing musical experiences — in person — with the community during this event. As guests enjoy their threecourse meal on the patio of the NAC, a floating stage will be filled with various performers throughout the summer weekends.
