Win2021 Lottery

-

The Almonte General HospitalFairview Manor Foundation and the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital Foundation teamed up with Bean Chevrolet for a fundraising raffle. The grand prize was a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer that was won by Marc Giles and his father, Les. Approximately $145,000 will be split by the two foundations. With the conclusion of the third car lottery over the last few years, the total amount raised through this joint fundraiser is approximately $430,000.

“These funds will allow each hospital to purchase new or replacement equipment,” said Mary Wilson Trider, president and CEO of Almonte General Hospital and Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital. “Our communities rely on us to provide excellent high-quality care when they need us, and this kind of fundraising and support gives our physicians, staff and volunteers the tools to do that. This fundraiser that Keith Bean does for us is an outstanding commitment to the hospitals and the two communities.”

“At first you don’t believe it,” said Marc Giles. “When they called, I looked at the phone and thought it was a telemarketer. When he said

it was Keith Bean and ‘you won the grand prize for the hospital lottery,’ I didn’t know what to say except for ‘wow.’ ” Giles and his father Les had purchased three tickets together. “Dad had some health issues last year and spent a lot of time in the hospital. So I think for him it was a way to give back to the hospital.”

Keith Bean, president of Bean Chevrolet, understands the importance of giving back in his community, something he credits his parents for teaching him at a young age. His mother was the director of nursing at the Heart Institute, and when not working she was fundraising for the health care fields. “My parents were always involved in the community.”
