Shooting death city's 14th homicide of year

Jan. 16: El-Hajj Hassan, 20, is shot in the chest while driving his car near the intersecti­on of Hunt Club Road and Lorry Greenberg Drive.

March 7: The bloodied body of Leo Santostefa­no, 40, is found on a trail off Dobson Lane.

April 23: What police believe is a random stabbing on Somerset Street West claims the life of harmreduct­ion worker Carl Reinboth.

May 4: Patrol officers find Mikael Arjani, 34, between Hannah and Baribeau streets with extensive injuries; he dies a month later.

May 26: Abdulqadir Yusuf, 22, is found dead in a parking lot of a condominiu­m complex on Palmerston Drive in Gloucester with what Ottawa police believe is a gunshot wound.

May 28: A shooting in a mall parking lot at the intersecti­on of Alta Vista and Dale Avenue kills two brothers: Abdulaziz Abdullah, 34, and Mohamad Abdullah, 27.

May 30: Gunfire erupts near the intersecti­on of Meadowbroo­k and Cyrville roads and responding officers find Warsama Youssouf, 27, injured, but he later dies.

June 15: Hanadi Mohammed, 50, is stabbed to death outside a home on Baseline Road. Her estranged husband, Hamid Ayoub, 54, is facing a charge of first-degree murder.

July 4: Loris Tyson Ndongozi, 20, is killed and another man is injured in a shooting in Lowertown near the intersecti­on of York Street and Beausoleil Drive.

July 22: Christophe­r Avery Houghton, 25, is stabbed in a suburban neighbourh­ood in Nepean at the corner of Sherry Lane and Gary Avenue.

July 26: Eric Hewer, a 19-yearold celebratin­g his birthday, is stabbed downtown near the corner of Albert and Metcalfe streets and dies in hospital.

July 2021: Zakaria Sheek-Hussein was severely beaten by another inmate inside the Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre. He later died from his injuries. Before he died, Donald Musselman was charged with aggravated assault.

Aug. 10: Creflo Tansia, 18, of Ottawa is shot on Murray Street, near the intersecti­on with Beausoleil Dr. A second 18-year-old man received “non-life-threatenin­g injuries.”
