Newfoundland trucker missing from Cornwall area
Vehicle and cellphone found abandoned at a Petro-pass stop on County Road 27
Search efforts are still underway for missing long-haul trucker Brian Lush, 51, who was last heard from last Wednesday afternoon.
The Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry OPP detachment released an updated statement Monday morning asking the public for dashcam and trailcam video footage that could possibly assist with the investigation.
“(SDG OPP) is asking drivers and hunters to check for potentially relevant video in efforts to locate a missing person,” begins the statement.
“Investigators want to hear from motorists who have dashcam video from Highway 401 westbound, in the Boundary Road area near Cornwall, from April 25, 2024, between 10:30 a.m. and noon.”
An individual, partially matching Brian's description, had been reported along the highway at that time but could not be located when officers arrived. The OPP is also asking hunters or others with trail cameras in the South Glengarry, South Stormont, and Cornwall area to check for any possible sightings.
Over the weekend, the OPP continued their search of the area with a helicopter and Remote Piloted Aerial System.
The OPP emergency response team (ERT), canine units, and members of the Ontario Search and Rescue Volunteer Association have also been conducting searches of the area.
“We appreciate offers of assistance from the public, but untrained civilians can actually interfere with our work, contaminating potential scent trails that our canines could track, and interfere with possible evidence or signs that could lead us to locate Brian,” reads Monday morning's statement. Lush, who is described as five-foot-11 and 200 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, was last seen wearing a blue hoodie, jeans and possibly a ball cap.
Lush was last seen entering a Petro-pass truck stop on County Road 27 in Summerstown Station, at Highway 401, on Wednesday. His family said he went into the store, made a purchase, but hasn't been seen since. His truck, along with a cellphone inside, was left at the truck stop.
The OPP said on social media Saturday they are in constant contact with one of Lush's family members who are in the area.
“This can't be still happening, please keep praying! Please keep sharing!!! Let's bring my father home to the family who needs him,” said Lush's daughter, Chloe White, on social media Monday, sharing a Tiktok she made about her father's disappearance.
