Happy 150th—and thanks!

We’ve been discussing it here at OC for more than a year now, and it’s hard to believe that our special June- July issue to mark Canada’s 150th anniversary is finally here. And it’s all thanks to you! Your tremendous response to our call-outs for Coming to Canada stories has resulted in a 20-page section that spans generations, from the pioneering days to modern times, and touches upon many cultures along the way (page 16). Also in the mix is an expanded The Way It Was section (page 56) and, for many readers, a first look at three remarkable stories from the More of Our Canada archives (page 44), also reflective of the multi-faceted mosaic that is Canada.

Speaking of mosaics, we can’t say enough about Tim Van Horn and his Canadian Mosaic Project. Af- ter criss-crossing Canada multiple times and amassing more than 50,000 photos of individual Canadians, Tim has crafted the most intricate “snapshot” of Canada you are ever likely to see. He’s taking his educational exhibit on tour this summer, so keep an eye out for him! Tim’s story begins on page 8, and his photos grace our wrap-around cover.

To create space for all the great content provided, we’ve put our recipe pages and a few other regular departments on hold—fear not, all will return to normal in the next issue of Our Canada!

Subscribers to More of Our Canada can look forward to even more Coming to Canada stories in a great July issue; if you’re not an MOC subscriber, but want to purchase a copy, see page 49 for details.

And the timing just couldn’t be better to launch our annual Share Your Canada photo contest—see page 28 to join the fun! Happy anniversary!
