An ode to the true north strong and free

One hundred and fifty years ago Our Provinces all joined hands To unite our nation, Canada, Its lakes and all its land. Natives and immigrants created Canada And left it in our care To carry on its great traditions, Those folks from everywhere. Canada grew from horse and buggy, With roads of gravel and sand, Where travel was a challenge And work was done by hand. There were no lights nor telephones When the settlers first began, Yet they worked through all the hardships While clearing all the land. Canada is always ready To help those who have a need, That’s why Canada is so special And the reason we succeed.
