A picture is worth $2,000

-

On Nov. 2 I had lunch at Wouda’s Bakery with friends and my car was parked in the parking area.

An unknown person witnessed my car being damaged and promptly took pictures and forwarded them to the RCMP.

I heard a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, in this case it comes close to $2,000 for the repair job.

Thanks to a person my vehicle is now repaired. Your kind action proves this city has caring and kind folks. Again, my heartfelt thank you. Dolly Dorner

Penticton week.

Many citizens could not get the floating microphone to ask their questions, while others were allowed to speak several times. What a sham.

The rules laid out at the beginning were each citizen had three minutes to ask a question, then the next citizen. This did not take place and John Singleton stated to me twice “that he received a head nod from the head table to let specific citizens go over their time limits.”

Citizens seated in the left front side of the room were allowed to speak at least three times each, for more than five minutes and then one citizen spoke for more than six minutes. Other citizens could not even speak, as the one microphone lady, many times would state it was “that citizen’s turn next” but she did not return. I saw this with my own eyes and heard it said many times.

This was the worst run public meeting that I have attended in my life and I encourage other Penticton residents to speak out.

I suggested that Singleton Consulting refund the $500 to City of Penticton, but he refused.

Last Friday, I picked up a copy of the latest “Revised Enhanced Marina Development Agreement” dated Nov. 21, 2016, directly from City Hall and found errors within before I even left City Hall and I had to return Monday to receive two of three corrections. I am unable to receive “Schedule J,” but [E] states “a copy which is attached as Schedule J.”

How can Penticton residents come to a decision on this agreement when we are receiving incomplete documents?

This is the reason I intend to fight on for saving Skaha Park, on behalf of all Penticton residents and not change my mind like some others have done a few times. I cannot believe that just one council member spoke out against these “agreements,” however after meeting with four others, I believe another council member will vote against it.

I stress that all Penticton residents must attend all future council meetings currently scheduled for Dec. 1 and Dec. 6. Nelson Meikle
