Awesome folks here in Penticton

-

Dear Editor: I wanted to write in to say how fortunate we are here in Penticton because of helpful neighbours and companies who support others when unforeseen things occur.

On the morning of Nov. 21, my son was riding his bike to school when his tire detached and crashed. His wheel looked like a stretched out elastic band and was unrepairable.

A lady saw him crash and gave him a ride to school, however, my son was wondering where to leave his bike and mangled tire. Since the accident occurred adjacent to the property at LockWorks Inc., she suggested to ask inside where he could temporarily leave his bike until he came home from school. Dale Flemming, the owner at LockWorks told my son he could keep it stored in the back with his bike lock so it wouldn’t get stolen (as if anyone would steal it at this point).

When my son later came from school to pick up his bike, he was surprised to see the bike’s front tire and wheel was replaced and fixed! He ran inside and asked if they repaired his bike. Dale and Kim said “yes.” My son asked how much he owed them and they told him not to worry about the cost. After thanking them, he came home and told me what happened.

By writing this letter, this is my way to thank those who selflessly help others like the lady who drove my son to school and great companies like LockWorks on behalf of the community. Wendell Shuster Penticton
