Peewees hosting 12-team tourney on weekend

Twelve teams will be suiting up for the annual Penticton Minor Hockey Associatio­n peewee tier 3 tournament Friday to Sunday.

All four local arenas will be utilized for the city’s last minor hockey tournament of 2016.

Summerland, South Okanagan, Merritt, Revelstoke and the host Penticton Vees represent the Interior, while other teams include Ridge Meadows, Surrey, Semiahmoo, Langley, North Shore Winter club and U.S. teams Seattle and Spokane.

Twenty-five games will be played starting Friday at 11:15 a.m. and continuing through to the championsh­ip game Sunday at 1:15 p.m. at Memorial Arena.

The following is the schedule for the three area teams:

FRIDAY: Penticton vs. Revelstoke, 11:30 a.m., SOEC; South Okanagan vs. Langley, 5 p.m., Memorial; Summerland vs. Surrey, 5 p.m., McLaren.

SATURDAY: Summerland vs. Ridge Meadows, 6:30 a.m., Memorial; Penticton vs. Seattle, 9:45 a.m., OHS rink; South Okanagan vs. Surrey, 11 a.m., Memorial.

Summerland vs. Langley, 3:30 p.m., McLaren; Ridge Meadows vs. South Okanagan, 4:15 p.m., McLaren; Penticton vs. Spokane, 5:45 p.m., Memorial.

SUNDAY: Semifinals — 2nd vs. 3rd, 6:30 a.m., OHS rink; 1st vs. 4th, 7:45 a.m., McLaren.

11th place game, 6:30 a.m., Memorial; 9th place game, 8:45 a.m., Memorial; 7th place game, 10 a.m., McLaren; 5th place game, 11 a.m., Memorial.

Championsh­ip game (semifinal winners), 1:15 p.m., Memorial.
