Please don’t forget about the animals

- — Herald staff

The following is a first person account by one of the individuals who will be helped by this year’s Be An Angel campaign.

This is an animal story from someone who loves my dog the same way some love their children.

Because someone is obviously disabled, don’t tell that pet owner what to do with their pet. They are not dumb.

Then there’s this attitude. If you can’t afford to have a pet and feed it, you shouldn’t have one.

I disagree. Pets are so therapeutic. My dog actually works at an old folks home, Haven Hill.

My dog, when I am angry, immediately calms me down.

So when I have to come in the odd time and ask for food for my dog, please understand.

I have neighbours who understand that my dog needs wet and dry food.

It’s hard to find good places to live in this city because I own a dog. Another reason why I want to write this letter is to help people understand that they could donate dog food to the food bank, not to mention blankets, baskets and toys and squeakers and chewy things for dog gifts, too. —Stephanie
