You should hear Ted talk. For free. But since it just might transform your life, that means it would be priceless.

Ted Corcoran, a witty Irishman with a storyteller’s charisma, is giving a presentation at the Rotary Centre for the Arts Monday night from 7 to 9 p.m.

“It is not every day a speaker the calibre of Ted comes to speak to Toastmasters and the general public,” said Lorne Barker, president of Kelowna Toastmasters 2796, which is hosting the event.

“The fact that it is free when he could command thousands of dollars for a keynote speech is amazing. I encourage anyone who is interested in leadership and personal growth to attend.”

The former president of Toastmasters International will present a dynamic overview of how communication and leadership skills can enhance your life.

“Can you remember one of those pivotal times when someone said something to you that changed your life?” wonders John Sherber, a distinguished Toastmaster from the Lower Mainland.

“For me, meeting Ted Corcoran was one of those times. The man had something unique about him. It was the way he framed his answers to my questions.

Sherber, now the program quality director for District 21, which covers most of the Toastmasters clubs in Southern B.C. and Victoria Island, will be at the Rotary Centre Monday to hear Corcoran speak again.

“I invite you to a night that will change your life.”

Whether it’s communicating with your partner, applying for a job, or leading a seminar, Corcoran’s simple, straightforward techniques will help you connect with others.

Corcoran, with his unique talents for storytelling and sharing personal experiences, can transform you from a shy speaker into a great leader.

“No one can tell his stories like he can, and they are hilarious,” said Toastmaster Leah Cheyne, who met Corcoran at his home club in Ireland. “He has an amazing sense of humour. “He regaled me with stories of how he began in Toastmasters in 1985 by attending a meeting, just like each of us, and was asked to become the club president by the end of that meeting.”

Corcoran will be joined on stage by Alan Warburton, the district director for District 21.

Warburton has been on the Toastmasters International stage as one of the top speakers in the world.
