Producers of a documentary film that highlights a Penticton RCMP officer’s recovery from cancer will begin touring Western Canada next week with a stop planned in Kelowna.

Cpl. Dan Moskaluk was given just an eight per cent chance of survival when he was diagnosed in 2014 with stage four kidney cancer at the age of 51.

Ever since, the father of two has followed a whole-food, plant-based diet that he credits for restoring him to health and helping his wife, Sheanne, lose over 100 pounds.

“My nutrition was a big part of my healing strategy and seeing that I was given a terminal prognosis, there is little doubt as to why I‘m still alive,” said Dan, who serves as an RCMP media relations officer.

A whole-food, plant-based diet eliminates all forms of animal protein, such as dairy products and meat, and instead relies on fruits, vegetables and other unprocessed foods for nutrition.

The benefits of such a diet are explained in the star-studded documentary called Eating You Alive, which is playing in a pre-release screening tour that began Sunday in Vancouver, followed by Okanagan College in Kelowna on Wednesday, Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops on Thursday, and then heads to Alberta.

Filmgoers will get an opportunity to discuss the film and the topic of the whole-food plantbased lifestyle with director David Paul Kennamer, producer Merrilee Jacobs and the Moskaluks, who are in the documentary.

The film also features James Cameron, Penn Jillette and Samuel L. Jackson.

It has already completed an American pre-release screening tour and is due to be featured Tuesday on NBC’s The Today Show.

Tickets for any of the showings are available online at: www.eatingyoualive.com.
