Clark favours immigrants

-

Dear Editor: Re: B.C, tax lifted for foreign buyers with work permit

I have the following to say to Premier Christy Clark: What? You must have met with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Vancouver over the weekend.

Now you and your cohorts know that the 15 per cent tax on foreign home ownership buyers in Vancouver has worked very well since it was implemented last August. It worked because it successfully cooled the out-of-control housing market and should apply for all of B.C.

Now you are backtracking and giving in to those immigrants and foreigners who happen to have a work permit and pay taxes. Well, us Canadian citizens pay taxes also, and we need a government who is going to put our interests first and foremost and protect us.

I am too old now to be fooled anymore. Or to be taken advantage of. I am witnessing reverse discrimination when immigrants and migrants are getting top priority in our country. I wonder why? Oh, I know why: for the vote, come election time.

As a side note. Poor U.S. President Donald Trump has a real mess to clean up in providing safety and protection for his people.

I quote Paris Mayor Anne Hidalga: “terrorism threatens all of the world’s big cities,” and “there is not a single one escaping that menace.”

This warning to the world is very well put. Carol Stein Kelowna
