Valley First donates $150,000 to PRH hospital expansion
Valley First, a division of First West Credit Union, has re-upped its commitment to the community by donating $150,000 to the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation for the new Patient Care Tower at the Penticton Regional Hospital.
“Equal to our mission of simplifying the financial lives of our members is our commitment to making a meaningful difference in our local communities,” said Valley First president Susan Ewanick. “Strong, healthy communities are the backbone of strong healthy economies. We see the new Patient Care Tower as essential to the ongoing vitality and growth of Penticton and its residents.”
Ewanick made the announcement onsite at Penticton Regional Hospital this morning alongside Penticton MLA and Parliamentary Secretary of Finance Dan Ashton and South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation Executive Director Carey Bornn.
“Through this very generous donation, Valley First has again shown why they are one of our community’s most valued supporters,” says Carey Bonn said. “This grant goes a long way towards helping the Medical Foundation realize our goal to provide the medical equipment for the Penticton Regional Hospital expansion.
Construction is already underway on the $312.5-million Patient Care Tower, which is expected to open its doors in 2019.
In addition to the $150,000 donation to the Patient Care Tower campaign, Valley First supports numerous community investment initiatives, through gifts in kind, knowledge philanthropy, and donations.
With the support of employees and community partners, Valley First smashed its $1 million fundraising goal for Feed the Valley, its signature cause that supports local food banks across the Okanagan.
