Too many are out for fast buck

-

Dear Editor: I am getting a bit fed up with the direction in which society is heading.

Whenever something happens to us, we immediately decide to launch a law suit against somebody ... anybody.

I am sorry that the lady who tripped over a bolt on the trestle hurt herself but deciding to sue the City, really? What if she’d tripped over a stone on a pathway and twisted her ankle. Who would she sue in that instance?

We are becoming a society which won’t take the blame for anything but instead will put the blame on somebody else. Don’t you remember the wise words from your parents when you were growing up? Watch where you’re going. If we fell down and came home with a bloody knee, it would get cleaned up and have a band-aid put on it and off we’d go back outside. I think it’s high time that we paid more attention to what we’re doing instead of laying the blame elsewhere!

Also, you folks who can’t put your phones down for one minute, please take heed and watch where you’re going!

And to think this all got started with the lady who spilled hot coffee on herself and sued McDonald’s. Looking for a quick buck I’d say. Mavis Creech Penticton from the left and govern from the right or vice versa. The status quo is preserve and no serious change occurs. The safest ground is near the middle and no one is staking out new political ground — except for the Green Party.

The B.C. Greens have been persistent since their founding in 1983. They have fielded candidates in every provincial General Election since 1986.

The Green Party goal in British Columbia is government that will build sustainable communities that protect, restore and sustain natural systems — air water and soil.

Green government aims for an economy and a society that withstands the challenge posed by climate change — in better health, greater justice and true democracy.

This May 9th those who do keep the faith and do vote may be persuaded to break some new ground by voting Green.

We’ll see. Dave Cursons Boundary Similkameen Green Party of B.C.
