Thank you to all of the nurses

-

Dear Editor: Nurses are vastly under appreciated. Having just spent four days in Kelowna General Hospital recuperating from spinal surgery, I am more aware than ever, how overworked and undercompensated they are.

The nurses were the brightest spot in an otherwise arduous experience. They were endlessly patient and caring, compassionate, efficient, knowledgeable, etc, with me and with all the other patients on the ward full of people recuperating from body trauma and in great pain and helplessness.

I wish we could all lobby our government to make the nursing profession in B.C. more appealing, so that there could be more nurses, with better pay and working shorter hours. I understand they are the lowest paid in the country. Shameful for a rich province like ours. Obviously, the government has other priorities,

We need to changed that. Thank you to nurses everywhere. Ellen Zimmerman Golden great expense when there is a city task force out there looking into expanding city parkland? The cost of this vendor road through a city park should have been allocated to upgrading the 300 block of Main Street.

The now-costly vendor road should have been an extension of Gyro Park South to align with the north end of City Hall. Check the paid parking lot next to the new road, one vehicle, maybe two on Friday... a large addition to public parkland.

Now everyone will have to pay to park on Martin and Winnipeg Street for the summer market?

Sorry to say this is another costly decision for the sake of paid parking.
