Rainer Wilkins to carry banner for Green Party in Kelowna-Mission
The B.C. Green Party has nominated a candidate to run in the Kelowna-Mission riding.
Rainer Wilkins, a certified sommelier and the vicepresident of the Kelowna Arts Council, will be running against incumbent Liberal MLA Steve Thomson.
“I am honoured to be the B.C. Green Party candidate for KelownaMission,” said Wilkins. “I chose to be a candidate because I believe that we must act to ensure there is a positive standard of living for all British Columbians, and a strong economy that relies less on fossil fuels.”
Wilkins said he believes the Green Party platform is beneficial to everyone.
“Our health and well-being should be a focus for any government, and that preventative and integrated approach of the B.C. Green Party will benefit everyone,” he said.
Andrew Weaver, leader of the B.C. Green Party, welcomed Wilkins' nomination.
“I'm so pleased that Rainer will be running for the B.C. Greens in Kelowna-Mission,” he said. “As a wine expert, he is intimately familiar with one of the fastestgrowing agricultural industries in the region and recognizes this tremendous opportunity for sustainable enterprise.”
The NDP does not yet have a candidate in KelownaMission.
The B.C. Green Party has also nominated Robert Mellalieu to run in Kelowna-West and Alison Shaw to run in Kelowna-Lake Country.
