Plenty of spring break activities

Kids in Kelowna have an abundance of activities to choose from to keep busy during their two-week spring break, starting next week. YMCA Okanagan is hosting numerous half-day, full-day and week-long camps throughout spring break, from March 20 to March 31, at the Kelowna Family YMCA, H2O Centre and Mission Creek Alliance Church.

The Regional District of Central Okanagan is hosting nature detective spring break camps at the Environmen­tal Education Centre for the Okanagan in Mission Creek Regional Park for kids ages five to 10, from March 21 to 23 and from March 28 to 30.

Indoor and outdoor activities for children ages five to 10 will run from March 21 to March 23, and March 28 to March 30.

A two-day spring break camp for girls in Grades 2 to 7 will be held at Mountain Equipment Co-Op in Kelowna on March 18-19.

During the Sole Girls event, girls will learn life skills, confidence, being healthy, how to be positive and goal setting.

Volleyball BC is hosting a spring break camp at UBC Okanagan March 27-30 for teens 12 to 16, open to all skill levels. To register, go online to volleyball­bc.org/event/springbrea­k-developmen­t-camp-okanagan.

Kelowna Museums is hosting spring break events, exploring the history of the Okanagan at Okanagan Heritage Museum on March 20, 22, 27, 29 and 31, and at Laurel Packinghou­se on March 24.

The City of Kelowna is hosting several camps ranging from swimming to art classes to junior golf to a circus yoga camp.

Pacific Sport Okanagan is hosting camps at the Kinsmen Fieldhouse Hall for kids ages nine to 12 from March 20 to 24 and at Okanagan Gymnastics Centre from March 27-31. To register, call 250-469-8800.

Kelowna Gymnastix is hosting spring break camps, including a trampoline camp, gymnastics and a parkour camp. Register online at kelownagym­nastix.ca/springbrea­k.

The Westbank library has several spring break activities happening over the two-week period, including a pirate storytime on March 18, a duct tape craft session on March 20, a learn-to-play chess program on March 22, a Lego building event on March 29 and a children's spring gardening program on March 31.

The Kelowna Art Gallery and Bumbershoo­t Theatre are teaming up to camps for children aged 5-8 and 9-12. The camps will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, March 20-24 and March 27-31.

Children can register for one day or a whole week. The cost for each child per day is $65 for the public, and $50 for members of the art gallery. Registrant­s who sign up for any four days will receive a fifth day free. Daily drop-ins will also be available.

Children will divide their time between the art gallery and Bumbershoo­t Theatre each day, and will also take short field trips to different places in the Cultural District.

At the gallery, children will take part in activities, such as painting, sculpture, drawing, mixed media and printmakin­g. At Bumbershoo­t Theatre, they will explore theatre through a variety of games and play.
