Last two chances to see symphony

-

Dear Editor: A few weeks ago the Cleland Theatre was alive, hosting two morning presentations of “How Canada Came To Be,” to hundreds of school children from as far away as Princeton, Naramata and the South Okanagan School District. It was a costumed concert, including wonderful canoes being paddled down the side stairs, and a huge number of kids on stage, accompanied by members of the Okanagan Symphony. Congratulations to all.

There are only two more Okanagan Symphony Concerts remaining in this season. On Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Cleland Theatre, cellists Arnold Choi and his sister Estelle will be featured in Vivaldi’s “Concerto for two cellos” and Canadian Jocelyn Morlock’s “Aeromancy”, which observes the air around us. Our conductor, Rosemary Thompson, conducts a preconcert chat at 6:30p.m., so as to better understand the evening’s performance.

On May 14 at 2 p.m. at the Cleland, our Okanagan Symphony Youth Orchestra, about 80 young people, directed by Dennis Colpitts and Rosemary Thompson, will perform. They come from all over the Valley, and we are so very fortunate to be able to hear them. This May concert will feature our very own composer, Wynn Nordlund.

Tickets for all concerts available through the Shatford Centre or call 888-974-9170 or www.okanagansymphony.com/tickets. We thank you for your support. Bonnie Ross
