21 per cent of voters pick the government

-

Editor: Our last provincial election had a dismal turnout of about 55 per cent of eligible voters.

The Liberals won this election with about 38 per cent support among the 55 per cent of voters eligible.

That works out to about 21 per cent of eligible voters.

With the 21 per cent, the Liberals actually have a majority (dictatorship really). We still continue to label this a democracy?

Why do we hire so many MLAs to serve us in Victoria, when so few seem to run the show and make all the decisions?

I won’t hire 10 people to dig my garden and have eight of them standing about leaning on their shovel — neither would I expect that in Victoria.

So, we see, 45 per cent of eligible voters will sit on their hands watching a hockey game or playing with their phone.

We hear so much complaining about the government, but your vote or lack of allowed the present party to form a majority with 21 per cent of the eligible vote.

We can thus call ourselves the 21 per cent majority. Please vote the way you want, but do vote.

Twenty-one per cent is a disgrace in a democracy.

PS: sometimes it is good to flush our political toilet and give some other party some steam.
