Cherry Lane will be renovating its food court

Three new retail spots to be added at shopping centre

- By JAMES MILLER

Customers of Cherry Lane Shopping Centre will soon be able to enjoy a fully renovated food court while franchisees can benefit from three new retail spots.

“We're looking to attract more national tenants, there are many franchise opportunities available for people who want to own their own business,” said Cherry Lane general manager Judy Richards. “We will still have some of the Mom and Pops which will give the food court a nice mix of nationals and locals which will create a very special flavour.”

The space presently used by Urban Dollar will be demolished making room for three new retail spots. Urban Dollar will be relocated to an alternate location within the shopping centre.

With the renovation comes expanded restaurant options from six spots to nine. In total the food court occupies about 2,040 square feet of space.

The washrooms, located off the food court and down a hall, will be remodeled and repositioned for greater customer convenience. There will be a new seating area and configuration and an emphasis on natural light which will come in from the ceiling.

“We’re very excited about this,” Richards said. “It's been a long time since there has been a major renovation and it really shows how committed our owners are to not only Cherry Lane but to Penticton.”

It will be built in phases, beginning almost immediately, with the entire project targeted for completion by Dec. 1, just in time for the busy Christmas season. All restaurants will be open during the renovation.

Food services available in the food court are A&W, Grace’s Souvlaki & Pita, Origami, Papa Murphy’s Pizza, Sizzling Rice, and Subway. Purdy’s Chocolatier, Starbucks and Booster Juice are located within close proximity of the food court.

Cherry Lane is anchored by Save On Foods, Hudson’s Bay and London Drugs.
