Bullets pierce metal shutters in 5th attack on Thai restaurant

-

Two special units have been called in to investigate the raft of targeted attacks on the Thai Fusion Restaurant in West Kelowna. The latest happened early Friday. West Kelowna RCMP were called to the eatery at 3041 Louie Dr. after reports of the front window glass shattering after bullets pierced the protective metal shutter. The metal shutter was installed as extra protection after four attacks on the restaurant.

There have been five vandalism strikes, including a break and enter in an attempt to set the place on fire.

Given the frequency and severity of the crimes, the West Kelowna RCMP General Investigations Section has taken the lead on the file and will be supported by investigators from the Kelowna RCMP Forensic Identifications Section, who have been gathering evidence from the scene.

“Both of the most recent incidents have taken place between the hours of 4 a.m. and 6 a.m.,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey of the Kelowna RCMP.

“RCMP believe there would likely be a high potential for witnesses in the immediate area during this time period and ask the public to remain vigilant.”

Tips can be called into the West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880.
