Filmmakers invited to Peachfest

-

The third annual Reel Peach Festival film festival returns as part of the 70th annual Penticton Peach Festival, Aug. 9-13.

“Each night before the main act plays at 9:30, we have dead space as the stage gets set up, it is too dark and crowded to have other entertainment,” commented Peach Festival President Don Kendall. “The films have been well received and expand the entertainment value and diversity of our signature festival in Penticton.” he added.

Film makers can submit one- to three-minute short films in one of two categories:

— Liquid Libations: any film short concerning Okanagan wine, craft beer, distillery, cider or juice/soda.

— Okanagan Experience: any film short showcasing an Okanagan experience (such as, but not limited to, arts and culture or tourism) Prize money is being offered. “For a film maker to showcase their work in front of 5,000-plus people is very attractive, add in social media exposure for fan choice, and cash prizing, we look forward to some great submissions again” said organizer and Penticton Mayor Andrew Jakubeit.

The festival is open to professionals and wannabe film makers.

“There is a very vibrant and active arts community in our region so we hope to engage more submissions that are creatively artsy, funny, and less traditional or corporate than we’ve seen in the past.

“I’m excited about this year’s opportunity build community pride and be entertained,” said Jakubeit.

Festival entry deadline will be Aug 6. For more information, visit reelpeachfest.com.

Submissions must be family friendly.
