The Penticton Flames snapped a threegame losing skid with an easy 16-6 victory over the winless Kelowna Raiders in Thompson Okanagan Junior Lacrosse League action Thursday in Kelowna.

The Flames (6-6-1) moved into a third-place tie with the Armstrong Shamrocks with Penticton holding a game in hand.

The Flames play their final home game of the regular season tonight as they take on the Kamloops Venom at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Arena.

Everyone age 16 and over attending tonight’s game will be entered into a draw to win a 1999 Mercury Sable, courtesy of sponsor Neil Jamieson of Underwriter’s Insurance.

“Hopefully we get a big crowd out to support us for our last home game and someone will get to drive away with a car,” said Flames head coach Kevin Thompson. “Neil has been such a terrific supporter of the sport and the Flames program.”

The Flames finish up regular season play with road games Friday in Armstrong and Sunday in Kamloops.

“We haven’t been playing to our full potential of late, but we’re still missing some key players due to injuries,” said Thompson. “Hopefully we can get healthy and get on a bit of a run in the playoffs.”

The Flames will play their home playoff games at the Oliver Arena but will open the first round on the road against either Kamloops or the Vernon Tigers.

The Venom (10-3-0) are two points behind Vernon (11-3-0) for first place as the season winds down.
