Talking, activity are ways to cope

-

Dear Editor: I read somewhere that lots of people suffer from depression but they do not know it.

The young man who took his own life touched me as he had so much going for him. He had his wife and son and many more people that cared about him.

At times maybe some might think it is an easy way out of the same thing day in and day out, but it is not. You hurt so many that love and care about you. Lots might not show it but they do care. Sometimes it is better to talk things out.

Some might become bored and can not see the good things in life, or some work so much that they forget that some people do care.

I won’t say how old I am but when I get bored or feeling a bit down, I just go outside and clean up around the apartment building I live in. Mostly it is pulling weeds, a dang good crop this year. LOL.

But being able to just clean up each evening makes me feel so good about who I am, plus it looks nice when it’s done. Plus I get to talk to a few people that walk by. We live in a great city and we should be helping each other. If anyone just wants to talk before they do something drastic, you can find me outside most evenings. It is so nice and peaceful then, plus I get to do what I like and that is pulling weeds. LOL.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and son, also those that knew him.

Please, never give up. James Readman Penticton
