A film company from Kelowna will have a crew in the Penticton area over the next six weeks following two local triathletes as they prepare for the ITU Multisport World Championships.

Jen Annett and Jeff Symonds will be featured in The Last Mile, which will examine the training that goes into preparing for long-distance triathlons. Several other agegroup athletes will also be profiled.

“We are incredibly excited to be working on this project. The guts and determination these athletes have is inspiring to all,” Render Digital Media producer Pamela Tomlinson said in a press release.

“It’s a story of having a dream and accomplishing that, regardless of your limitations and setbacks.”

Tomlinson is a graduate of UBC-O and has produced several local series, including one about the Canadian Culinary Championships.

The ITU Multisport World Championship take place Aug. 18-27 in Penticton, with the flagship long-distance triathlon going on the final day. The race consists of a three-kilometre swim, 120-km bike ride and 30-km run.

Symonds, who was born and raised in Penticton, is the three-time and 2016 men’s champion of Challenge Penticton and the 2015 Ironman Asia Pacific champion.
