Scandal-ridden foundation

-

Dear Editor: The Liberals have committed $241 million to promote reproductive health in the Third World.

Considering that the biggest problem in the Third World is over-population, and not man-made climate change, this makes more sense than Trudeau dumping $2.63 billion into the UN’s Green Climate Fund.

The $166.5 million is going to a variety of NGOs who provide services in these areas. It’s disconcerting that the scandal-ridden Clinton Foundation is listed among them, with $20 million being given to them for their activities in Nigeria.

The Clinton Foundation nominally exists to collect and disburse funding for a variety of deserving philanthropic and humanitarian causes and, to a degree, it does.

But the Clinton Foundation is much better known as a huge slush fund and for money laundering to support the extravagant lifestyles and political activities of the Clintons themselves.

There’s a U.S. Justice Department investigation pending into the operations of this self-serving organization.

The 2014 tax return for the Clinton Foundation, a tax-exempt organization, shows that they received $178 million in revenues, but only made grants to charities in the amount of $5 million, or some three percent of revenues. Records for the same period show expenses of $91 million which includes $35 million in salaries for 486 employees and a further $50.5 million for undefined “other expenses.”

Were the same ratio of charitable payouts to revenues applied to our $20 million contribution to the Clintons, we could expect $600,000 to be delivered to the intended beneficiaries with the remaining $19.4 million being withheld for other purposes. That’s one hell of a way to run a charity and it’s yet another outrageous waste of money by the Liberals.

The more cynical among us might conclude that this was mostly a virtue signalling exercise by Trudeau and another move to buy himself a membership in the globalist club at our expense, just like his $70 million contribution to the Agha Khan Foundation.

Then we have the flip side of the Foundation business with Communist Chinese billionaires lined up to make fat contributions to the Trudeau Foundation, all from altruistic motives of course, and with no expectations of favourable consideration for their own agendas.

We could have done more to help Nigerian women by giving them 100,000 colour televisions sets to watch reruns of the Oprah Winfrey show.

After the headache this is one of the most effective birth control measures ever devised. John Thompson Kaleden
