SUMMER GAMES

Penticton’s Tyler Wall has racked up five gold medals in swimming competitio­ns at the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg and Kenora, Ont.

Representi­ng Team BC, Wall has garnered gold in 100-metre freestyle and as a member of the 4 x 200 freestyle relay team.

He has a silver medal as a member of the 4 x 100 freestyle relay team, and bronze medals in 100 backstroke and as a member of the 4 x 50 freestyle relay team.

Team BC is halfway through the second week of competitio­n with 91 medals.

Adding to the 61 medals from Week 1, Team BC week two athletes have earned another 30 medals — 11 gold, seven silver, and 12 bronze. Team BC is sitting in second place in the medal standings, with Ontario in first with 140 medals and Quebec in third with 87.

The swimming competitio­n concludes today, with the final medals awarded in the evening. The open water competitio­n will be held Saturday.

Competitio­n continues until Sunday with canoe kayak, cycling, golf, tennis, soccer, softball, volleyball and wrestling events still to be completed.

SLO-PITCH

The Wolfpack is showing plenty of snarl midway through the Penticton Men’s Slo-Pitch League season.

A big 23-10 victory over a strong Quest team on Wednesday kept the Wolfpack’s perfect record intact at 11-0 so far this season.

Defending league and playoff champions Sportsfrea­ks at 7-1 and Quest at 7-3 round out the top three.

The Wolfpack, which won the regular season crown in 2015, is back in action Monday when they take on TDA at 6 p.m. at Lion’s Community Park.

In other games Monday at Lion’s, TDA plays Lightning at 7:30 p.m., and the Hitmen play Lightning at 9 p.m., while at neighbouri­ng Scott Mullins Field, Diamond Edge Stucco Chillin face Black Contractin­g Raptors in a 6:30 p.m. start.

League play continues to Sept. 21 with playoffs to follow.

GOLF

Barb Laisi took top honours at the Twin Lakes Golf Resort ladies’ “hidden holes” outing on Tuesday.

Rounding out the top six were Vicki Cartwright, Barbie Lacey, Dot Creighton, Pat Sutherland and Darlene Gordon.
