Local JCIs backing SAFEXST program

-

Junior Chamber International Penticton is launching a new venture in support of the clients served by SAFEXST (Exiting) Program.

The SAFEXST project is funded by Public Safety Canada specifically to provide support to those at risk through their use of sex as a means to survive. The goal is to help individuals make changes at their own manageable pace. This funding, however, cannot be used for any items that can bring warmth, comfort and nurturing outside of life’s essentials.

For example, the feel of soft slippers, the sweet taste of chocolate, the smell of a deep conditioner, the comfort of a foot rub, the rejuvenation of a rich moisturizer. Luxury items help to nurture a person, to show them that they aren’t forgotten or alone. They can help give the strength needed to keep on going – to never give up.

“Bubbles” is a personal indulgence event – a bubble bath theme afternoon where attendees are encouraged come dressed in bathrobes and flip flops, enjoy bubbly beverages and help create a positive impact for the users of the SAFEXST program.

The event will be held Saturday, Sept. 9 at Blasted Church Vineyard Tickets are $50 and include drinks and appetizers. They can be purchased online at www.jcibubbles.com, along with shuttle tickets ($5). The event also features a bubbles bath photo booth and candy table from So Sweet.

Through the “Bubbles” event, JCI Penticton is creating an opportunity for the community to gather together at a fun new event poolside at Blasted Church Vineyards, in order to announce the launch of an e-commerce site, www.jcibubbles.com, to provide SAFEXST with the comfort items we take for granted.

Instead of the usual silent auction fundraiser, JCI is creating a website and e-commerce page where people can purchase the comfort items directly for the program allyear round, not just at one event.

The Bubbles program is generously supported by Total Restoration Services, Daniel Lo Law, Penticton Foundry, The Fourth Media, KISStrategies, Castanet, Two Wolves Brewing, SendOutSupport™, Felts Photo Services, Ramada Inn and Suites, Blasted Church Vineyard and Michael Anthony (MobileView).

JCI is an international community-minded training and leadership organization for people aged 18-40. JCI Penticton meets regularly at 7pm on the fourth Thursday of the month at its clubhouse on Hastings Ave. Check out JCI Penticton at www.jcipenticton.com for more information.
