Preserve our park lands

-

Dear editor, Calling all passionate people for the preservation and protection of park lands to stand together!

There needs to be one strong society whose work it is to speak up and fight (passionately, but without violence), to keep our public park lands (and lakefronts) public, non-privatized, protected, preserved, unencumbered, open and gree.

Members or non-members of either the SSPS or the PCF need to stand together, with united purpose and goals against this council's goals to take and develop public park lands.

All people who have the abovementioned passion and prayer for park lands to remain as such need to attend the upcoming SSPS AGM, Tuesday, Oct. 24 and stand up.

Registration at 6 p.m. and meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Penticton Lakeside Resort.

I strongly recommend the goals and mandate of the new society to be: keep parks lands public, non-privatized, protected, preserved, unencumbered, open and green.

I also recommend that the committee members include one or more people from among the more “proactive, but non-violent group” (ie. PCF supports Nelson' work) and also one or more persons who live in the neighbourhood of a park and can keep close watch on it.

I have some nominations in mind. Also, if you are that someone, please contact me at lovesskahalakepark@hotmail.com or 250-493-5275.
