The Summerland Steam and Osoyoos Coyotes clash in the first of eight games in the “Battle of the South Okanagan” tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Summerland Arena.

The Steam enter in the catbird’s seat this time, tied for the Okanagan Division lead with a 5-1-0 record. Princeton Posse also has 10 points with a 4-1-1-1 record.

Osoyoos, the three-time division pennant winners, is off to an uneven 2-2-0 start and sits in fourth place, four points behind the Kelowna Chiefs (4-2-0).

On Saturday, the Steam travels to the Rutland Arena to take on the Chiefs in a 7 p.m. puck-drop, while the Coyotes return home to take on the Revelstoke Grizzlies (5-1-0) at 7:35 p.m. at the Sun Bowl Arena.

Jordan McCallum produced a hat-trick as Biscuits mauled Game Time Sports Wolverines 9-1 in Penticton Men’s Recreation­al Hockey League play Wednesday.

Colin Minardi and Dave Sandrelli had two each and Dougie Chadwick and Kenton Johnson tacked on singles.

Carter Rigby saved the Wolverines from the whitewash brush.

OLDTIMERS’ HOCKEY

Slo-Pitch League.

The No. 1 seed Lake Monsters edged the Clancy’s Liquor Store Cariboozer­s 12-11, while the Hitmen upset No. 2 seed Chillin 14-11.

The Lake Monsters and Hitmen play Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Lion’s, with the winner advancing to the final on Sunday, and the loser joining Cariboozer­s, Chillin and two other teams in the single-eliminatio­n bracket.

In the single-eliminatio­n bracket already set for Saturday, Chillin plays TDA at 11:30 a.m. at Lion’s, and Cariboozer­s take on HEC Highlander­s at 1 p.m. at Lion’s. Teams that lose in this bracket are eliminated from the playoffs.

The A Division playoffs continued Thursday night and resume on Saturday.

The A Division final goes Sunday at 2 p.m. at Scott Mullins Field, with the B Division final Sunday at 2 p.m. at Lion’s. If a second game is necessary in either, it will be played at 3:30 p.m.

GOLF

Ria Waldie logged a 46.5 to top the 24-35 handicap flight at the Penticton Golf and Country Club ladies’ “Baker’s Dozen” outing on Tuesday.

Susan Long and Elaine Vonck tied for second at 48.

In the 1-23 handicap, Bernice Cameron and Mary Lou Lancaster tied for first at 48.5 and Trish DesBrisay and Gail Bendictson tied for third at 49.5.
