Local hairstylist making mark
Okanagan Cosmetology Institute has reached levels never before seen in the hair industry here in B.C.
Hairstyling is a Red Seal Trade in BC as of January 2016 – Director of Trade Development Nathania Roy has taken OCI to the prestigious title of a Designated training location for Level 2 in this trade before any other school – private or public.
Last week in Nelson amongst peers from Vancouver Community College, University of Victoria, Selkirk College just to name a few – Roy spoke of the pathway to this outcome for her students here in Penticton and as leaders in the industry OCI has attracted over 80 per cent of their student base from outside the Okanagan.
OCI is setting the standards that will be followed throughout the province in this newly recognised trade.
On a personal level of extraordinary achievements, Roy is one of a selected few professionals who have been invited to participate in Tokyo Fashion Week representing Vancouver Fashion Week in a runway show of seven Canadian designers.
