COP patrolling on Halloween

-

Dear Editor: Citizens On Patrol is a program that involves volunteers going out into the Penticton community and being the eyes and ears for the RCMP in their attempt to fight crime. It is part of the community policing that also involves, bike and foot patrols, speed watch, lock out program and positive ticketing.

As COP volunteers, one part of our agenda is to go out in the community policing van along with our own private vehicles and patrol the streets and surrounding neighbourhoods of Penticton.

On Tuesday, Halloween night, we will be sending out five vehicles to hand out candy to the little kiddies.

Not only will we be handing out candy but at the same time making sure the neighbourhoods and the little ones are safe.

This prompted much positive feedback last year from the parents who welcomed us with open arms.

To do this, we needed the support of the community and businesses alike. This year, it has been overwhelming. We have accumulated 2,000 pieces candy and 200 food vouchers. On behalf of all COP volunteers, I would like to thank the following supporters for their generous contributions: Sign Language, Shoppers Drug Mart, IGA, Triple O’s, Canadian Tire, Dairy Queen, McDonald’s, Save On Foods, London Drugs, and The Real Canadian Superstore. Without these supporters this could never have been accomplished. Citizens on Patrol
