Stellar return for Kothlow

- By Penticton Herald Staff

Kevin Kothlow missed the past two seasons — but certainly not a beat — as he made a triumphant return to Bad Tattoo Brewery Masters Indoor Soccer League action.

Kothlow piled up eight goals and four assists as TC Auto Sales rolled Harvey-Lister-Webb 13-4 in the first week of regular season play Sunday at the Adidas Sportsplex.

Peter Ruocco scored twice, Peter Toth had a goal and two assists, and James Fofonoff and Charley Mayer one goal apiece for TCA, who led 7-1 at halftime against a depleted HLW squad.

Mike Knight added three assists, while goalkeeper Pat Vanryswyk denied Brian Johnston on a penalty kick and also chalked up an assist.

Norm Peters with two, Johnston and Herb Alex scored for HLW.

In the first game of the day, Venna Veselka scored on the first shot and Penticton Lock & Key cruised to a 9-5 win over Theos.

Zico Pescada, Gord McLaren and Vlado Zamecnik had two each, Paul Borba and Phil Barata singles and Dave Crompton tallied two assists as PLK led 5-2 at halftime.

Darren Schimpf and Carlos Mendonca had two each, Harry Higson one, with Mike Osland and goalkeeper Norm Peters carding two assists for Theos, which was without starting goalkeeper Tom McGill.

In games this Sunday, TC Auto faces Theo’s at 10 a.m., then it’s PLK against HLW at 11:20 a.m.
